Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 – Metalcore legends, We Came As Romans have collaborated with deathcore innovators, Brand of Sacrifice to release “Darkbloom (Reimagined feat. Brand of Sacrifice)” today. The reimagined version of the single, originally released by We Came As Romans in July of 2021, is released via Sharptone Records and can be found on streaming platforms HERE and is accompanied by an official visualizer which can be viewed HERE or by clicking the image below.
Together, the WCAR and BOS camps, alongside producer Drew Fulk (Motionless In White, Fit For A King, Crown The Empire), were determined to not only push the limits, but fashion the heaviest rendition possible. And, while each artist was distinctly aware of the current trend of re-working past material using a lighter touch, the creative unit zigged where others zagged, battering audiences with a combination of snarling vocals, electric synths, and pulverizing breakdowns.
Speaking on their brutal collaboration, We Came As Romans share
“We’ve been fans of Brand of Sacrifice for a minute – and when we had the idea to do a reimagined version of Darkbloom, they were the first people to come to mind. A lot of bands have done incredible re-releases or reimagined versions of songs, and those versions are usually stripped down and showcase a softer side. We wanted to do the exact opposite – to team up with some powerhouses in the deathcore scene, and release something heavy, fast paced and aggressive. It’s been a blast working with the BOS guys, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”
Brand of Sacrifice add
“When WCAR approached us to rewrite this track with them, we were excited to be able to work with a band that has done so much for metalcore as a whole. This reimagined version of Darkbloom is full of aggression and energy, and combines all of the elements that make both of our bands special with some unexpected surprises along the way. We’re super stoked that we have the opportunity to innovate and bridge the gap between two very different sub genres, and do something insane that really hasn’t been done all that often in metal.”
We Came As Romans & Brand Of Sacrifice - Darkbloom (Reimagined)
As well as collaborating on the brutally heavy reimagining of the track, Brand of Sacrifice and their metal streetwear brand, Shibori Threads have also collaborated with We Came As Romans on the very limited ‘Darkbloom’ collection of their signature, bespoke hand dyed and sewn garments. Since the release of their milestone debut album, 2009’s To Plant a Seed, diehard fans depend on We Came As Romans to deliver intimate, confessional, and autobiographical anthems, each one challenging, triumphant, and passionate. Darkbloom is a bright light in the darkness with the strength of every WCAR album before it. Singer David Stephens, guitarist Joshua Moore, bassist Andy Glass, guitarist Lou Cotton, and drummer David Puckett usher in an ambitious, courageous new era, while honoring the legacy and memory of their fallen bandmate,
co-vocalist and keyboardist Kyle Pavone.
We Came As Romans’ initial ascent was quick and assured, catapulting the band (who met as teens) into the hearts of devoted fans immersed in the metalcore, post-hardcore, and Warped Tour subculture. Their hook-filled heavy music carries an uplifting message and connects with even greater urgency live. The increasingly diverse catalog of metallic might, melodic strength, and electronic atmosphere soars in clubs, theaters, and fests. They’ve supported tastemaker acts like Bring Me The Horizon, I Prevail, Bullet For My Valentine, and The Used.
Conquering a myriad of impressive milestones since their formation – including topping Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, and accumulating over 500 million catalog streams worldwide – WCAR have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
Formed in 2018, Toronto-based beasts of death metal darkness Brand of Sacrifice have been imprinting their mark on the heavy music scene with such force that their army welcomes its burn. Dubbed “The Branded Ones,” the group’s fans joined and marched with them as they tore across the globe in support of debut EP The Interstice and LP statement God Hand which debuted at #20 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Brand of Sacrifice spread their wings for their sophomore LP ‘LIFEBLOOD’ – the production is even more pummeling, which is exemplified by laser-sharp structures and a wide-gulf of dynamics. The album takes catchy to another level, with choruses comprising string orchestrations, synths and sound effects alongside bludgeoning breakdowns. Fans often hear the show end with “Eclipse” and its closing chant of, “Welcome to the new age.” With LIFEBLOOD, it’s evident we’ve entered an even fresher one, and there’s no turning back.
