APRIL 30, 2021 (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) — LA based indie duo Junaco merge realities between the dream world and the everyday mundane for a shimmering new experience with their latest single “
Dazed,” out today on Side Hustle Records.
Following the recent singles “
Weight Of The World” and “
Blue Room,” Junaco have welcomed fans into a captivating 360 degree universe that’s filled with warmth, light, and feels like a mixture of home and a vacation at the same time. It’s all part of a bigger picture installation, combining music and art together fully with the release of a new EP this summer. As fans will notice in the sharing of in-motion artwork on their
instagram, Junaco is unveiling an all encompassing audio-visual ‘home away from home’ for their audience.
Junaco’s Shahana Jaffer and Joey LaRosa expand on the influence and song compositions, “With ‘Blue Room’ & ‘Dazed,’ we were really inspired by Amo Amo’s self titled album, along with both of Sam Evian’s entire LPs and the simplicity of how good the music made us feel. On ‘Blue Room’ we were lucky enough to connect with the co-lead of Amo Amo and have him play guitar on the tune. It really tied it together, it’s the glue of the song. ‘Blue Room’ and ‘Dazed’ feel like an A side/B side of each other, they were written back to back & seem to carry a similar, observant sentiment.”
“I feel so at home singing these words,” shares Shahana, “I really am dazed by the simple things in life. The Beatles’ line in ‘Because’ always guts me in the same way: ‘because the sky is blue, it makes me cry’.”
“For me, it’s about living in beauty without a worry for a brief period,” Joey continues, “The beauty in the normalcy of a sunny day. The songs’ form was intended to recreate how a day passes – starting slow and growing into the momentum that the world is moving as the day passes. An ode to the moments in between, because that’s where we’re all really living.”
Collaborator Tejas Leier Heyden adds, “That little melody in the 2nd verse is a harmony bass played through Joeys Moog. I love that sound and how the part bounces along to the drums and just pushes the song along. Maybe my favorite sound we’ve ever come up with.”
Junaco is a musical project and concept born from an instinctive escape from musical conventions, based in Los Angeles, California. The term ‘Junaco’ means rolling with the pace of life and enjoying the present; living and working with intention, not just running. Junaco explores feelings resulting from change and progress through their contemplative and delicate compositions.
The two made a name for themselves with their slow-burning, mesmerizing melodies full of soft guitar beside melancholy harmonies, building an all-together composition that gives their listeners an escape from the daily norm. Alongside their newest musical releases, Junaco have been working on creating new ethical merch.
