2x GRAMMY® Award-winner Shooter Jennings continues an extraordinary year with the news of two new albums produced by the multi-talented artist/musician/producer. Marilyn Manson’s We Are Chaos (Loma Vista/Concord) arrives on Friday, September 11; Yelawolf’s Sometimes Y (Slumerican) will be released on a date to be announced soon.
Currently starring on the cover of Mix while also named “Hot New Producer” in
Rolling Stone’s annual “Hot List” issue, Jennings kicked off 2020 by earning a GRAMMY® Award for his work co-producing Tanya Tucker’s triumphant “Best Country Album” winner, While I’m Livin’. A stunning series of diverse new Jennings-produced releases followed, including American Aquarium’s Lamentations, Hellbound Glory’s Pure Scum, The Mastersons’ No Time For Love Songs, The White Buffalo’s On The Widow’s Walk, and Jaime Wyatt’s Neon Cross, all available now. Jennings is currently collaborating with a number of additional artists for projects slated for later this year and beyond.
The recent announcement of Marilyn Manson’s We Are Chaos was met by worldwide media attention marking the historic collaboration between the shock rock icon and Jennings, who noted in a new Rolling Stone feature, “I play more instruments on this record than I ever have on any of my records. It was like we were best friends since we were kids, but didn’t know it until we met. We had a lifetime of preparation to make this record and came out the other end as close as two guys can be and very proud and excited.”
Along with his in-demand work as a producer, Jennings also found time to partner with longtime friend Lukas Nelson for a stellar new version of Ed Bruce’s classic “
Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” famously recorded by their respective fathers, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, on 1978’s milestone duets album, Waylon & Willie. Recorded originally as the theme song to Netflix’s popular comedy series, The Ranch, the new version is available in its entirety for the first time as part of the recently released
The Ranch (A Netflix Original Series Official Soundtrack).
For nearly two decades, Shooter Jennings has defied expectation while constantly expanding the parameters of country, rock ‘n’ roll, and beyond. The scion of American music royalty, he has affirmed his own place in histories still to come as a truly limitless artist whose ambitious experimentation spans myriad genres and creative platforms, from releasing eight solo LPs, countless EPs, and founding his own label and multimedia outlet, Black Country Rock, to hosting his “Shooter Jennings’ Electric Rodeo” on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country channel, and the creation of acclaimed BBS Door games (available via his own

As if all that weren’t enough, Jennings found time to hone his production skills by helming sessions from such iconic artists as Jamey Johnson, Wanda Jackson, Billy Ray Cyrus, and his mom, Jessi Colter. 2018 saw him team up with longtime collaborator, 6x GRAMMY® Award-winner Dave Cobb, to co-produce Brandi Carlile’s critically hailed By The Way, I Forgive You. The album proved a landmark release, earning worldwide accolades and the 2019 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Americana Album.”
Never one to rest on his laurels, Jennings spent the next year building upon his eclectic legacy by producing Marilyn Manson’s nightmarish cover of The Doors’ “The End” as well as Tenderness, the acclaimed solo album from Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan. Jennings’ increasingly potent production discography has seen him earning a wide range of media attention, with the influential Saving Country Music writing, “Sitting in the producer chair and leaning over a mixing board, Shooter has found a renewed passion and enthusiasm for music, and is using it not just for the famous who have the opportunity to be considered for GRAMMY® Awards, but for some of the most important unheralded voices in country and Americana…Being a producer now feels like the primary focus, or at least an equal effort for the second generation performer. And most importantly, that’s where Shooter’s passion is.”
