FEVER 333 & GRANDSON RECORD COVERS OF LINKIN PARK CLASSICS FOR SPOTIFY SINGLES

FEVER 333 & GRANDSON
RECORD COVERS OF LINKIN PARK CLASSICS FOR SPOTIFY SINGLES
GRAMMY® Award-nominated band and activists FEVER 333, and acclaimed singer, songwriter, and activist grandson today contribute covers of two Linkin Park classics to a new double A-side Spotify Singles recording. These special recordings mark the first time the popular Spotify Singles program has dove into the catalog to celebrate a classic album: The 20th anniversary of Linkin Park’s diamond-selling, groundbreaking debut album Hybrid Theory.
grandson delivered a rendition of “One Step Closer,” while FEVER 333 provided their take on “In The End.” Listen to them exclusively on Spotify now.
grandson recharges the riffs of “One Step Closer” with punchy production and glitchy electronics, while FEVER 333 sharpen the edges of “In The End” with tenacious rhymes and a hard-hitting delivery.
grandson commented, “I first heard ‘In The End’ when I was just a kid, illegally downloaded it off Kazaa when I was like ten and learned all of Mike’s verses. Then 10 years later I played the Forum with Mike in front of thousands of people. Chester is an all-time great, and I could never try and sing like he does. We had to pitch the song down just so I could come close to hitting the notes in this song. I just wanted to try and pay homage and do this incredible song justice.”
Jason Aalon-Butler of FEVER 333 remarked, “I will never forget that overcast morning in Los Angeles walking from my locker in the F building down the now infamous 11 stair handrail at Westchester High (now of numerous skate vids fame) toward the bungalows that housed my algebra 2 education and being stopped by my only website building homie to tell me of this ‘awesome new band he found called Linkin Park.’ ‘In The End’ was the song that made me believe that rap and rock still belonged together. I studied their tasteful marriage of the two styles from that moment on and created my own music with that in mind. I wish I could tell my 14-year-old self that one day I’d receive a DM from Mike Shinoda about him liking my music. I wish even more that I could tell my younger self he’d offer to share his talents and energy with me to make more music. I don’t think 14-year-old me would believe it, though. 35-year-old me still doesn’t.”
FEVER 333 just released their new EP WRONG GENERATION via Roadrunner Records / 333 WRECKORDS CREW and are currently in the midst of their WORLDWIDE D333MONSTRATIONS FOR THE WRONG GENERATION livestream tour. Tickets for the remaining dates are available HERE.
grandson is set release his full-length debut, Death of an Optimist, on December 4th through Fueled By Ramen. The forthcoming album includes recent singles “Identity,” “Riptide,” (co-produced by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda) and “Dirty,” which is currently climbing the Alternative Radio chart.
ABOUT SPOTIFY SINGLES:
Driving more than three billion streams since the program began in 2017, Spotify Singles was created to give artists an opportunity to record new versions of their own songs, and the songs of the artists they love. The Singles scope includes a unique version of each artist’s own song (Side A) and a cover song of their choosing (Side B). To date, there have been over 300 Singles recorded as part of the program.
ABOUT FEVER 333:
Rebellion needed a soundtrack. It got that and a whole lot more from FEVER 333. Rallying around a mission of “art as activism” in 2017, the group first publicly assembled with an unpermitted D333MONSTRATION in front of a South Central Los Angeles landmark—ducking out before the cops came, but leaving a mark on the streets of their hometown. Shockwaves rippled through the culture. The title track of their MADE AN AMERICA EP scored a 2019 GRAMMY® Award nod in the category of “Best Rock Performance.” Their full-length Roadrunner Records/333 Wreckords Crew debut LP, STRENGTH IN NUMB333RS, toppled 60 million total streams. KERRANG! christened it, “The best debut album of 2019,”  honored the group with “Best Song” at the 2019 KERRANG! Awards, and included them on a cover alongside Metallica, Jimmy Page, Ghost, and Skunk Anansie. Not to mention, they have collaborated with everyone from POPPY to RUN-D.M.C. and Vic Mensa. In addition to selling out headline D333MONSTRATIONS everywhere, they ignited the stages of Lollapalooza South America, AfroPunk, Reading, Download UK, Download AU, Park Live Moscow, and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. Standing up alongside the people, they regularly participate in activism with a focus on community, charity, and change. FEVER 333 vocalist Jason Aalon Butler created the Walking In My Shoes Foundation to benefit organizations that generate empathy, understanding, and change within the communities they serve, including Movement Voter Project – Black Voter Fund, United For A Fair Economy, and Mijente Support Committee. Following the tragic murder of George Floyd, Jason spent 13 days in the streets as he marched on the frontlines of rebellion in L.A. On the 14th day, he came home and wrote what would become the 2020 EP, WRONG GENERATION.
ABOUT GRANDSON:
For grandson, music is more than an artform. It’s his way of communicating the endless anxieties, fears, epiphanies and questions swirling in his mind, burdened with an overwhelming responsibility to ‘do the right thing.’ Using this moniker to anonymize himself, alternative singer/songwriter Jordan Benjamin has struck a chord with millions of fans around the globe. A vocal spokesperson on some of today’s most pressing political and social issues, grandson’s most commercially successful single, “Blood // Water” (2017) currently has over 182 million Spotify streams, is Platinum in Canada and Gold in the US. From 2018 – 2019 grandson released his acclaimed Modern Tragedy EP Trilogy and has since collaborated with artists such as Dillon Francis, K.Flay, KennyHoopla and Oliver Tree. Later this December grandson will release his debut album Death of an Optimist, an overwhelmingly urgent call to action. grandson’s activism also lives outside of his music, as founder of XX Resistance Fund, a charity that “amplifies the voices of activists who might not otherwise have as large a platform.” The fund has previously raised tens of thousands of dollars while elevating awareness on issues such as gun violence. More recently, grandson has partnered with Defeat By Tweet, mainly working with marginalized communities in swing states, which is a key cause ahead of the US presidential election. With a sound best described as “a buzzsaw of righteous poetry” (Billboard), grandson has been heard in Riverdale, Marvel’s Runaways, and UFC fight promotions. His track “oh no!!!” was featured as the soundtrack to Warner Brothers’ Suicide Squad reveal trailer and in a recent cover story, Rock Sound called grandson “rock’s new leader of the resistance.”
