On Saturday, August 28, SummerStage will present  Go Brooklyn! Stetsasonic & Friends – 40th Anniversary Show at Coney Island Amphitheater at 7:00PM ET (doors at 5:00PM ET). The performance will live streamed for one night only at summerstageanywhere.org. One of the first-ever hip-hop bands, Brooklyn’s Stetsasonic used beat-boxing, sampling, and live performance to elevate the musicality of the nascent genre in the 1980’s. Originally known as the “Stetson Brothers”, there were three members including Daddy-O, Delite and Wise the Human Mix Machine. Soon, the group evolved to “Stetsasonic”, adding the prolific energy of DBC (Devastating Beat Creator), Bobby Simmons, Prince Paul, and Fruitkwan. With a sound that brought R&B, jazz, dancehall and rock to a genre still shaping itself, they would pave the way for hip-hop bands like the Roots; Stetsasonic lynchpin Prince Paul would go on to have a profound impact on the genre producing records for De La Soul, inventing horrorcore with RZA and the Gravediggaz, and groundbreaking solo records like A Prince of Thieves. Meanwhile, Daddy-O went on to work with many artists such as Audio Two, Chuck D, Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane, Freestyle Fellowship, Junior M.A.F.I.A and Red Hot Chili Peppers as a Producer and remixer. Though their last album was released in 1991, Stetsasonic has continued to tour and will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their formation at Summerstage in Coney Island with friends and special guests.
On Sunday, August 29th at Coney Island Amphitheater, SummerStage presents  INVINCIBLE: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson / DJ KS 360 at 7:00PM ET (doors at 5:00PM ET). The performance will live streamed for one night only at summerstageanywhere.org Drawing its name from Michael Jackson’s tenth and final studio album, Invincible: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson is a performance of the King of Pop’s greatest hits—indelible anthems such as “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Thriller” and more—as well as dance routines rehearsed for the HBO special One Night Only. With choreography by Jackson’s longtime choreographer and dancer, Lavelle Smith Jr., the show was created, produced and directed by the Bessie award winner Darrin Ross. The night will be led by professional impersonator, Jeffrey Perez.
On Wednesday, September 15th, SummerStage returns to Coney Island Amphitheater for Reggae Gold Meets Soca Gold at 7:00PM ET (doors at 5:00PM ET), in association with VP Records. VP Records stands at the nexus of Caribbean music in the United States. For years, they helped establish reggae, dancehall, and soca music in the mainstream, helping launch the careers of superstars like Sean Paul and Elephant Man. Their annual compilations Reggae Gold and Soca Gold highlights the best in soca, reggae, and dancehall each year, and this SummerStage showcase shines a light on some of its most promising talent, including soca stars Edwin Yearwood and Alison Hinds, the world-famous Jamaican dancehall crew Chromatic Sound, the dancehall triple-threat Noah Powa (he’s a singer, selector, and comedian), and Gyptian, who is at the intersection between reggae and dancehall with a sound all his own.
