“Metamorph” also marks the triumphant return of the original lineup as singer James Harrison has returned to the fold.
“As the original lineup for Oceans Ate Alaska, we are hugely proud to announce our brand new single ‘Metamorph,'” the band says. “Time plays a key factor in growth. We as musicians have let this sink in over the past few years and expanded upon our influences and ideas. But the space we’ve had between us has brought a new creativity to the mix. Everything feels new, almost undiscovered. Prepare for a new era of music.”
Oceans Ate Alaska — Chris Turner [Drums], James Kennedy [Guitar], Mike Stanton [Bass], Adam Zytkiewicz [Guitar], and James Harrison [Vocals ] — made waves back in 2015 with their full-length debut Lost Isles. Fusing unpredictable polyrhythms with melodic and dissonant passages, both Rock Sound and Revolver pegged Oceans Ate Alaska as a “Band to Watch,” while they landed on Alternative Press‘ “100 Bands You Need To Know” list and covered HM. Harrison left the band at the end of 2016 and was replaced by Jake Noakes. OAA’s second full-length Hikari arrived in 2017 and blended traditional Japanese instruments with dynamic flare. In 2020, to the delight of fans, Harrison returned to the Oceans Ate Alaska fold. The band remains hard at work on its third album for Fearless Records.
