Upcoming Shows on GIMME METAL:
Fit For An Autopsy – Two Guest DJ Specials: Friday 7/17 at 3:00 PM EST / 12:00pm PST + 5:00pm EST / 2:00pm PST – Born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 2008, Fit For An Autopsy’s inimitable deathcore attack has taken them around the world and over five LP releases, the latest of which is The Sea Of Tragic Beasts (Nuclear Blast). As a six-piece unit, the band pulls no punches in their relentless, socially-conscious assault, blending genres with an impressive range of sounds, all the time full of fire and fury. GIMME METAL welcomes bassist Peter “Blue” Spinazola for a guest DJ session today, PLUS a second show to follow hosted by drummer Josean Orta! Their Tip Jar proceeds will go to the Grassroots Law Project, a grassroots organization with legal expertise to radically transform policing and justice in America.
Watain Guest DJ Special: Monday 7/20 at 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST – Watain’s last LP, Trident Wolf Eclipse, is their sixth full-length since their inception in 2000, following a winding discography that’s highlighted the Swedish band’s black metal dedication. TMZ-worthy tour stories and controversial live antics-related headlines aside, the band has amassed a dedicated legion of fans around the globe and have toured with the likes of Mayhem and Behemoth. Their sound: fast, filthy, and furious, absorbing a wide range of influences throughout metal’s history as a whole. Vocalist/bassist Erik Danielsson joins GIMME METAL for a guest DJ special this Monday that will take a tour of his musical influences. Can’t tune in? The show will re-air on July 24th and July 29th.
Temple Of Void Guest DJ Special: Tuesday 7/21 at 7:00pm EST / 4:00pm PST – Temple Of Void is an uncompromising collaboration from the depths of Detroit, Michigan. Comprised of five musicians who have clocked in decades of time within the local underground scene, Temple Of Void entered this world with a singular focus and methodical execution from the start hearkening to the somber sounds of early British doom, while channeling the energy and devastation of old school American death metal. The band destroys all and GIMME METAL welcomes them to a guest DJ special on the heels of their latest release, The World That Was (Shadow Kingdom) and a split CD with Revel In Flesh (Unspeakable Axe). Their Tip Jar will benefit Barn Sanctuary, which provides a safe haven for neglected and abused farm animals.
Brian Slagel/Metal Blade Monthly Show: NEW Episode – Wednesday 7/22 at 7:00pm EST / 4:00pm PST – Metal Blade’s legendary founder and CEO, Brian Slagel, returns for a new episode on GIMME METAL! Strap in for some stories and miscellaneous tracks he just plain likes.
Kall Guest DJ Special: Thursday 7/23 at 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST – Crowned, “the Velvet Underground of black ‘n’ roll,” by Cvlt Nation, Kall have come a long way. It’s been six years since the successors of depressive black metal pioneers Lifelover released their self-titled debut, and while the ghost of their former band floats above three of the members, their second full-length Brand (Swedish for “Fire”) is a paean to self-empowerment, scene-nonconformity, and rigorous individualism; a call to overcome suffering by facing it head on, using the idioms of Scandinavian black metal, shoegazing post-rock, saxophone-fueled psychedelia, and the saddest of pop to get the message across.
Khthoniik Cerviiks Guest DJ Special: Friday 7/24 at 3:00pm EST / 12:00pm PST – In 2016, German black/death alchemists Khthoniik Cerviiks released their critically acclaimed debut album, SeroLogical Scars (Vertex Of Dementia) through Iron Bonehead. After a split LP with their comrades Howls Of Ebb in 2017, Æequiizoiikum has now arrived. At once swarming yet spacious, angular yet oddly anthemic, melodic yet miasmic, direct yet detouring, alien and futuristic yet in a manner most rusted and rustic… The band’s startling poise here is more pronounced, with songs that dig their hooks deeper, the “metal” in their black/death metal simultaneously emphasized and abstracted, the gnarliness more graceful, the confidence simply off the charts… Truly, no one sounds like Khthoniik Cerviiks. GIMME METAL is pleased to welcome the band to the guest DJ chair.
