Held., the new project uniting Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano of The Sleeping with Coheed And Cambria drummer Josh Eppard, have dropped “CONSTANT TENSION,” the second taste of their forthcoming debut album, GREY, due out May 15 via MNRK Heavy. The five-minute cut arrives following the band’s first single, “NEW YOU ANTHEM” featuring Frank Iero, which quickly turned heads in the post-hardcore world with praise from outlets like Revolver, Alternative Press, and idobi for its explosive guitars, pummeling drums, and rousing energy.

If “NEW YOU ANTHEM” was Held.’s cathartic handshake with listeners, “CONSTANT TENSION” is where the internal war really spills out. Robinson describes the track as stemming from an “everlasting battle” within himself, where his strengths and weaknesses collide in a daily mental tug-of-war that feels like an endless loop. He talks about abandoning himself just to gain perspective, only to be yanked back into clouded, suffocating thoughts—a cycle the lyrics mirror with uncomfortable honesty.

The song arrives with a visually striking video directed by Adam Thomson, expanding on the narrative introduced in “NEW YOU ANTHEM.” Leaning into a sci-fi-tinged atmosphere, the new clip functions as a companion piece to the themes behind GREY, taking Held.’s emotional tension and refracting it through a more surreal, cinematic lens. Where the first video focused on connection and release, this chapter feels more unsettled, amplifying the sense of unease that defines the song.

Ahead of the album’s arrival, Held. are inviting fans into their world a little early with an intimate GREY listening party this Thursday, March 5, at Selva in Brooklyn. The band will be on hand from 7 to 10 p.m., and in true DIY spirit, no RSVP is required—just show up, immerse yourself in the record, and live in its grey areas for a night.

GREY finds Held. channeling decades of collective experience into a debut that doubles as both creative evolution and personal reckoning. Robinson calls it “everything I have ever wanted to write in my time growing as a musician,” adding that the record has healed him—or at least is trying to. Recorded at the Animal Farm in Flemington, N.J., and produced and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, Drain, The Story So Far), the album promises a blend of urgency, vulnerability, and seasoned songwriting.

For those already hooked by “NEW YOU ANTHEM” and now “CONSTANT TENSION,” pre-orders for GREY are live, including multiple limited-edition vinyl variants. With the emotional stakes set high and a cohesive visual world already taking shape, Held. are positioning GREY as a debut that doesn’t just introduce a band, but documents a long-awaited reckoning years in the making.
