Alternative rock veterans Jimmy Eat World are turning up the volume again this fall with the announcement of their brand-new EP, Something(s) Loud, arriving November 14, 2025, via their own Exotic Location Recordings.
The six-track collection marks a special moment for the Arizona quartet — a bridge between their digital-era singles and their physical roots. For a band that grew up spinning CDs and vinyl, it’s not really a release until you can hold it in your hands. Now, longtime fans can finally do just that.
A Vinyl Debut and a Hidden Gem
Something(s) Loud brings together several of Jimmy Eat World’s recent digital-only releases, alongside a freshly unearthed treasure from their archives: “Failure.” Originally recorded during the Surviving sessions in 2019 and mixed by Ken Andrews of Failure, the track finally sees the light of day. Its raw emotion and layered production echo the band’s classic sound, blending nostalgia with their ever-evolving edge.
Vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins reflected on the EP’s timing:
“Coming out of the pandemic, it didn’t feel right to tour without offering something more, so we took the chance to share a few more tracks we’d been working on. At the time, it seemed like listeners were gravitating toward playlists rather than full albums, so we decided to meet them where they were.”
The EP also features a TW Walsh remix of “Place Your Debts,” an acoustic version of “Something Loud,” and a cover of Crooked Fingers’ “Call to Love,” featuring Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast.

Songs with Heart and History
- “Something Loud” — Co-produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, this anthem is pure Jimmy Eat World: guitar-driven, emotionally charged, and irresistibly catchy.
- “Place Your Debts” — Born from a writing session with members of The Faint and Desaparecidos, this track drifts between eerie and introspective, with Adkins’ understated vocals pulling listeners in.
- “Call to Love” — A heartfelt Crooked Fingers cover recorded live in 2020, elevated by Bethany Cosentino’s warm harmonies.
- “Failure” — A previously unreleased gem with a 90s-inspired skate video directed by Keith Koenig. (Watch the video here.)
A Look Ahead
The EP’s visual aesthetic comes courtesy of Nick Steinhardt of 23in, the same creative force behind Surviving’s iconic album art. And according to the band, Something(s) Loud is only the beginning — fans should “stay tuned for more big plans in 2026.”

ABOUT JIMMY EAT WORLD:
Jimmy Eat World, one of the most successful alternative-rock bands of their generation, consist of lead vocalist-guitarist Jim Adkins, guitarist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch and drummer Zach Lind. Friends since high school, the Mesa, Arizona-based quartet achieved their commercial breakthrough with several singles from their 2001 album, Bleed American. The biggest among them was “The Middle,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart and peaked at No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, where it spent 33 weeks total. The RIAA-certified platinum song joined Spotify’s Billions Club late last year. Futures, their follow-up to BA, featured “Pain,” which also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart. In October 2019, the band released their tenth album, the critically acclaimed Surviving, which became one of three chapters in their 2021 globally streamed series Phoenix Sessions, also including Futures (Chapter V) and Clarity (Chapter III) and performed in their entirety (available on YouTube here).
