LIVE FROM DARYL’S HOUSE EARNS SECOND WEBBY AWARD IN THE MUSIC (CHANNELS & NETWORKS) PEOPLE’S VOICE CATEGORY AT 21st ANNUAL CEREMONY
Groundbreaking show will be honored at May 15th ceremony with highlights streamed on YouTube May 16th
NEW YORK, April 26, 2017-Born on the Internet in 2007 as a “light bulb moment” for creator Daryl Hall, Live from Daryl’s House has earned its second Webby in the Music (Channels and Networks) category as the People’s Voice Winner out of more than 13,000 entries from 70 countries and more than 50 states. The award for the show will be presented at the 21st Annual Webby Awards, set to take place May 15, hosted by Joel McHale at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York City and streamed on YouTube. Winners will be restricted to five-word acceptance speeches. The Webby Awards is the leading international honor for excellence on the Internet, what Vanity Fair calls, “The Pulitzer Prize of the Internet.” This is the second Webby Award for Live from Daryl’s House, which took home similar People’s Voice honors at the 14th Annual Webby Awards in 2010.
Executive producers for the show include Hall along with Daryl Hall and John Oates manager Jonathan Wolfson of Wolfson Entertainment.
Live from Daryl’s House has been a hit monthly live-performance web series since 2007, featuring Daryl Hall jamming (and cooking and drinking) with friends, musicians and guest artists. The 30-minute broadcast version is a performance reality series which takes place in the intimate setting of Daryl’s recently opened club of the same name in Pawling, N.Y.
“When I first had the idea for this series, I was hoping to reach a wide audience, and this honor, voted on by the people, is just another sign we’re doing something right,” said Daryl.
The award-winning 2017 season featured guests Cheap Trick, Wyclef Jean, Elle King, the O’Jays, Anderson East, Daughtry, Grace and Kenny Loggins.
Daryl launched the free monthly web series in November, 2007, after wanting to “play with my friends and put it up on the Internet,” and the show has since garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone, SPIN, Daily Variety, CNN, BBC, Yahoo! Music and influential blogger Bob Lefsetz, who have cited Live From Daryl’s House as a perfect example of a veteran artist reinventing himself in the digital age by collaborating with both established and newer performers.
