CULTR
July 9, 2020 – Toronto-based artist nodisco. brings his music to the bedroom like the cast of Dawson’s Creek or the infamous scene from Say Anything, with his new single “Unrelated.” Coming from an artist whose recent single was titled “Moonlight in my Bedroom,” it’s almost as if he knew this time was coming. All of the home-bound isolation doesn’t hold nodisco. back from love though – if nothing else, it has deepened his affection. “Unrelated” captures the second phase of a relationship where lovers move past the initial flirtations and unveil their true identities.
Chris Toufexis, aka nodisco., shares:
“When you first fall in love, the euphoric bliss never seems to come down. You always want to be around each other, you drink, you laugh, you may even talk about surface level philosophy, but you know there’s so much more to you that this person doesn’t know yet.
‘Unrelated’ describes the moment in the relationship when the mask and slight facade you put on to this newfound love finally fades and you open up and reveal the most intimate details about yourself.”
“Unrelated” is only nodisco.’s fourth single to date, though he has already found success with tracks “Moonlight in my Bedroom,” “Luv U Early,” and his debut “Thoughts From Your Car.” His work has been featured on a slew of today’s top playlists like Study Break, Fresh Finds and New Music Friday Canada, and given international praise by the likes of Line of Best Fit, CBC Radio, Variance, and more. Hailing from Babyface’s esteemed songwriting camp in Toronto, nodisco. finessed his R&B infused sound under the watch of legendary producer/songwriter Babyface who hand selected him for the program. “Unrelated” now gives Toufexis the chance to honor his musical heroes that paved the way.
“I felt it was time to introduce my love for R&B. Artists like Joe, Brian McKnight and Craig David gave me songwriting and vocal lessons I never had to pay for (aside from the vinyl cost). Such masterful songwriting that doesn’t get the attention it truly deserves by snobs because of the alleged lack of depth lyrically. The craft of songwriting is so important to me, so their records are some of my favorite of all time.”
nodisco. prides himself on his extensive vinyl collection and interest in a variety of music from the past three decades, and these influences are clear in his own style. He comes full force with a pop sound all his own; full of buzzing thoughts and heavy contemplations, all paired with lighthearted culture references and a beat that’s sure to get put on repeat.

ABOUT nodisco.
nodisco. is the moniker of Chris Toufexis; a neurotic romantic, who feels most comfortable surrounded by rare Brian McKnight vinyl while watching Dawson’s Creek. Toufexis was never in bands growing up, constantly searching for that ideal bandmate in class and bar lines in university. After it never worked out, the only option left was to make the songs himself. With the help of Mike Brandolino (VALLEY), the first nodisco. demos were formed. In 2018, they were sent in and chosen by legendary R&B producer Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, to take part in a weeklong, exclusive songwriting camp in Toronto. After meeting Babyface and getting the thumbs up, it was time to make a project of his own.
Slyly balancing his deeply personal and honest lyricism with his undeniable pop sensibilities, he creates records that are very much his own. nodisco. is writing songs about somebody. Who that is, we are not quite sure yet. With three singles released at this time, the story is just beginning to unfold.
